I love to keep an eye to Japanese animated movies, because some are incredible stunning movies.
This movie, released in Japan last year, it become quickly the highest-grossng japanese animated movie ever... for a reason!
It is stunning and charming, and powerful. Different from studio Ghibli masterpieces and also different from Mamoru Hosoda movies.
Kimi no na wa she some touch for natural landscape, agrarian life and supernatural element like in most of Ghibli's works. But rely more heavily on characters emotions and their development: the story start with a fun (and not quite un-common, for Japanese) element of "body-swap" beetween boy and girl.
While this theme was made (in)famous by Ranma 1/2, the protagonist simply find themselves into the other's body on alternate day. In this there is a similarity with the anime "Kokoro connect".
Apart the quite amusing and hilarious scenes of two young persons of different genders to try living in the other one's body, the story start develope a more serious tone of emotive and learning impact. To turns toward the second half of the movie into a more drama/supernatural element.
Until the end, the watcher is kept quite unaware on how the movie could potentially end, and I have no shame in stating I've been moved to tears in one particular scene (and it is quite uncommon for me, not easily moved by finctional stuff).

An artist to check
Just wanted to break the silence imposed both by covid and lack of general news from the Felidae world to indicate an artist of high quality that recently produced a big amount of sketches of Felidae, based on the unique style and (very interestingly) some after the reading of follow-up books of the series! Fan-arts based upon books are rare, in Felidae world, and the artist deserve a good praise for the creativity and skill: @FortunataFox (I made some requests to adds the pics in the group's gallery, but there are many of them and i suggest people to dig into the artist gallery)
Birthday (31 ^^)
One year past 30 it's not a big deal, being into the "central but still relatively young" part of life xd
Biggest thing of the last year was the achievment of having started working as teacher and that contract it's continuing for the end of this school's year (by june). We will see in future for next one but it's a first solid step.
However important thing it's staying at home with family, still getting paid and making online lessons and having time for interests and hobbies. Birthday gifts will likely have to wait this year (Italy it's still on a strict lockdown) but still a cake in a couple of days
Sepulveda passed away
The covid claimed as victim one of the greatest writer, poet and of our time: Luis Sepúlveda will be missed but not forgotten.
As many Italians who grew up in '90s, my childhood included what was the best animated italian movie, inspired by his short novel "historia de una gaviota y del gato que le enseñó a volar".
Totally suggest to watch the movie (either in italian or in English as "Lucky and Zorba") centered on a black cat raising a seagull chick.
It's a touching fable with strong ecologist elements and understanding and love for who's different from you. Interestingly the original Italian dubbing included Sepúlve
